M-health

The NBCC Mobile First Technology initiative (MFTi) designs mobile technologies that help to educate people about health and wellness issues and enable them to participate in the management of their own health and safety. MFTi's work in this area includes the development of the NBCC Wellbeing app and participation in the New Brunswick Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) network for Primary and Integrated Community Care.

The unique capabilities of mobile information and communication technologies enable the implementation of effective solutions for personal and remote health monitoring, condition-based alerting, and health education, among other functions. Such solutions can result in improved health care outcomes and greater efficiencies in the allocation and use of health care resources.
