NBCC Location-based Object Management Framework for M-learning
As part of its research in both interconnected user experience (IUE) and M-Learning, the NBCC Mobile Technology initiative (MFTi) began an ongoing exploration of geo-spatial game play concepts that use mobile devices for learning.
Research topics
geospatial, m-learning
MFTi has developed several mobile app prototypes in an ongoing process of creating novel geo-spatial game play concepts that use mobile devices for learning. We have completed development of a framework that enables the creation, management, discovery, and interaction with learning objects in a geo-spatial context. This includes a Web service, a spatial object management sub-system, and Android and iOS clients. MFTi envisions the eventual release of a robust, publicly available version of this system for use by educational institutions and families.
