The NBCC Mobile First Technology initiative (MFTi) participated in the inception and implementation of Phase 2 of the New Brunswick SPOR Primary and Integrated Care Innovations project, one of a number of research networks funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research to support and carry out patient–oriented research.

Project Abstract
We envision the NB Network’s infrastructure will help facilitate its members (40 different stakeholders up to this point, including organizations directly and indirectly related to health care) to carry out research projects respecting the NB Network’s mandate to develop, improve and assess PHC in its broadest sense. We believe that having a NB Network will improve the profile and the interest in PHC research in the province, which, traditionally, has seen little. However, not only will the NB Network focus on developing new models of PHC, we will also focus on assessing the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of existing models (either traditional or recently instituted models) such as the physician led Family Health Teams and the nurse led Community Health Clinic. We will also include new technologies for patient self-management of chronic conditions, such as web-based self-management support and monitoring programs and the full scale use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
